BUG “The LEGO of gadgets”

TheBrutalTruth writes “Bug Labs will soon be launching what Webware calls “the LEGO of gadgets”. From their site “BUG is a collection of easy-to-use electronic modules that snap together to build any gadget you can imagine. Each BUGmodule represents a specific gadget function (ex: a camera, a keyboard, a video output, etc). You decide which functions to include and BUG takes care of the rest letting you try out different combinations quickly and easily. With BUG and the integrated programming environment/web community (BUGnet), anyone can build, program and share innovative devices and applications. We don’t define the final products — you do.”" Looks a bit vaporous, but conceptually interesting.

Cisco and how it helps you learn better

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

I am just going to talk about how Cisco helped myself learn better.

I go to highschool where a teacher teaches Cisco. I thought, I would love to learn about networking, so I decided to try it out. Best of all it was one of the best courses I have ever taken, as I helped myself to university student knowledge and am going to get a couple of letters, and a few certificates from Cisco.

Now you ask, “How does Cisco help you learn better?” Well here is the truth: I started taking online courses last year to learn more about the online world (and school,) so as I was working I found out that I did have the power to be a self-motivated, hardworking individual, as not many people can do that. It started out as I wasn’t really fond of doing online work, but now I have become an online person, with my own laptop, server, blog, and two domains. I have been learning various types of Linux and Windows applications using Wine and using Ubuntu and many other distributions.

In my school career I have been made top student of the year in 2 courses and have had the honor roll for 2/3 years, though I might have had honor roll if I had not done so poorly in grade 10s’ first term.

So overall I have learned to work hard with any motivation that I have received from myself and have been driven to preform my best in all areas (especially computer courses.)

Cool New Innovative Designs:

Monday, January 7th, 2008

This is an article from: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/01/07/monday-inspiration-innovative-designs-and-devices/

Optimus Tactus & Optimus Maximus

Artemy Lebedev’s Optimus keyboards offer an unusual approach for a traditional input device. A small OLED-display (Organic Display) is placed beneath every key to enable users to define displayed characters and the keys’ functionality manually. In other words, with Optimus the placement of labels on the keyboard can be varied at any time.

Optimus Tactus does not have physical keys, which means there are no restrictions on their shape and size. Any part of the keyboard surface can be programmed to perform any function or to display any images. Production date and price: unknown.

This is so cool though since the release date is unknown I do not know when these could come out.

Nonobject Behind the Scenes Camera

The Nonobject Behind the Scenes Camera (Video) has “lenses and displays on both sides for simultaneously recording what you’re aiming at, and what you’re not.” Behind the Scenes Camera is designed to capture what’s going on behind our back, beyond our control, while simultaneously capturing the scene in front of us.

here are some pictures:

Object Camera

Vaio Zoom

The Vaio Zoom notebook takes everything we know about holographic technology and squeezes it inside a thin glass form factor. When off, the screen is completely transparent and the keyboard goes opaque. Turn it on and the touchscreen holographic festivities begin. Even the mouse buttons are holographic! [via Gizmodo]

iRing

Cool I hope to see that out soon.

Bluetooth Laser Virtual Keyboard

This is reality. This BlueTooth Laser Virtual Keyboard, a laser projection keyboard, allows you to type on any flat surface. You can use it to compose an e-mail on your Bluetooth enabled PDA or Cell Phone. With 63 keys and and full size QWERTY layout the Laser Virtual Keyboard can approach the typing speed of a standard keyboard. Size: a little larger than a matchbook. Already released. Price: $150.

Bluetooth Laser Virtual Keyboard

If I could I would try this. its a little bit to expensive for me though.

That is all the gadgets for today.d

How to get iTunes working in Ubuntu Gutsy

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

Did you ever want to use your iPod without Windows or Macintosh? Have you tried to run iTunes in Linux but never could be able to? Here is the answer:

  1. You will need to get iTunes 7.4.3.1 which you can download here.
  2. After you download iTunes 7.4.3.1 install it with wine. (any wine that is later then 0.9.45 will do)
  3. After your installation of iTunes is done go to your wine menu and click on Programs>iTunes>iTunes.
  4. Go through the steps which you agree with the license agreement, click if you want to keep the files organized with yourself or iTunes will do it for you, it may say that the registry is not working so it needs to be reinstalled ( its just fine) click next and go through until you finally launch itunes and make sure that all of your music is there.
  5. Yahoo its working.

I hope this helps the average Linux user with an iPod

warning may cause your computer to run slowly.
