When you first booted Ubuntu 8.10 and there was screeching coming out of your speakers, you probably thought there was something really wrong. Ever suspend your laptop and then resume to have no sound?
I have a fix for you then.
I have been just been trying to figure this out so that I could play sound after I suspend to take my laptop out of the house or to take it home.
Open the System>Preferences>Sound and turn all of the drop down boxes except default mixer tracks to OSS – Open Sound System.
First of all you may want to restart your computer before doing this as it may not work and will probably give you an error message.
After you may want to restart as this is what I did.
There has been no problems after I did this little work around so it may work for you.

The Conficker Worm was supposed to go from the zombie state to the active state today. I have not heard much about it since I read about it (which was in little detail) in a magazine just last week. I have 3 humans in the house other then myself and I have checked 2 of the 3 peoples computers and there are no conficker worms that can be spotted. I am checking one of their computers again as I want to be doubly sure that she does not have it or at least she may have it and we cannot see it.
