This is a step by step upgrade. This is a very simple guide and we here at ryanorser.com are not responsible for any damages, data loss or any other weird and wacky things that could happen on your computer, this is why we run it in a VIRTUAL MACHINE. As I cannot have the time and place to go and upgrade my existing laptop I will go and use a Virtualbox virtual machine to do this update.
Step 1: Have Ubuntu 7.10 installed on your machine (my preference is in a virtual machine).
Step 2: sudo do-release-upgrade – -devel-release
Step 3: wait until everything has been fetched and downloaded.
Step 4: Let everything install.
Step 5: Type in y when it asks you to remove packages and then after that type in y to restart.
Step 6: Thats it!
