GIMP is a great image manipulation program which runs very well and I have not had any troubles working or saving images which was the case in InkScape.

Gimp has  a great interface, runs smoothly, saves quickly, and has a nicer interface then most of image manipulation software that I have seen and used.

Gimp supports a lot of file extensions that I use: PNG, GIF, and JPG. It works great and you can compress files.

Overall GIMP is a great image manipulation and I would reccomend to anyone who wants to manipulate images.
