I installed the latest Ubuntu so that I had a fresh install. I had tried Mythbuntu, but I found it too hard to figure out as the device was always asleep.<\/p>\n

To setup Hauppauge HVR 950Q you need to not have the usb plugged in when you install it.<\/p>\n

You should get Kaffeine. To get it you should install it by using the command: sudo apt-get install kaffeine<\/p>\n

Now to get the tv to work you need to install another package: sudo apt-get install libxine1-ffmpeg<\/p>\n

  1. Now plug in the USB TV tuner<\/li>\n
  2. Open Kaffeine.<\/li>\n
  3. Go to digital TV.<\/li>\n
  4. Under the Television Menu click configure Television<\/li>\n
  5. Click Device 1<\/li>\n
  6. In North America use the NTSC, (not sure what it is in other continents)<\/li>\n
  7. Go back to General Options<\/li>\n
  8. Click Update scan data over Internet<\/li>\n
  9. Click OK<\/li>\n
  10. Go to Television Menu again and Click Channels<\/li>\n
  11. The source should say NTSC<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  12. Now you need to scan for channels<\/li>\n
  13. Click Start scan.<\/li>\n
  14. In the scan results the channels that are available to you will show up.<\/li>\n
  15. You can filter what you want. Filters includes Free to air, Radio, TV, Provider: (a drop down box is below)<\/li>\n
  16. When you want to add the channels select the ones you want by clicking add filtered or add selected.<\/li>\n
  17. Click OK.<\/li>\n
  18. Click the channel you want to watch<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
