{"id":557,"date":"2008-10-03T19:44:38","date_gmt":"2008-10-04T02:44:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ryanorser.com\/?p=557"},"modified":"2008-10-03T19:44:38","modified_gmt":"2008-10-04T02:44:38","slug":"media-center-with-wifi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ryanorser.com\/index.php\/2008\/10\/03\/media-center-with-wifi\/","title":{"rendered":"Media Center with WiFi."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now playing in my living room as I watch movies, and TV Shows that I bought are going to compete with the new Wireless N USB adapter that can let me watch movies and go on the internet at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the steps I have taken to get it working:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Get a media center<\/li>\n<li>Wipe Windows off of it.<\/li>\n<li>Install Mythbuntu<\/li>\n<li>Have Mythbuntu malfunction<\/li>\n<li>Install Ubuntu 8.04 LTS<\/li>\n<li>Install dcss2 which makes Ubuntu able to play movies from a disc.<\/li>\n<li>Install proprietary ATI drivers.<\/li>\n<li>Resize the screen with the screen resolution application in The System&gt;Preferences&gt;Screen Resolution.<\/li>\n<li>Install ndisgtk (which also installs ndiswrapper-common and ndiswrapper-utils-1.9)<br \/>\n<em>sudo apt-get install ndisgtk <\/em><\/li>\n<li>Open Gnome-terminal: Type in Command: <em>ndisgtk<\/em> &gt; choose to install driver&gt; go to the .inf file in the directory from where you copied it off the cd. Click Done after.<\/li>\n<li>I always do this after I install drivers: Reboot (for those who love to do this in the command line: <em>sudo shutdown -r now<\/em> )<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Thats it.
