Another wonderful day has come, not only that Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex has been released! I have been running Ubuntu 8.10 since the Alpha 5 came out. So People must be wondering what it has in it that makes it so wonderful:<\/p>\n

  1. The Graphical User Interface (GUI) that I have chosen to use as my default is the clearlooks theme. The nice blue makes it look like a nice sunshiny day. I know that Ubuntu has an Orange and Brown theme to it, which I like also, but I love the blue theme and do not really like KDE that much.<\/li>\n
  2. The background of this distribution is wonderful. I do not usually change it as I really love what Ubuntu has spent time working on to create great graphics for backgrounds.<\/li>\n
  3. The bundled applications are also great a they are much better then the ones in Windows. The Brasero Disc Burning application works better then the ones you have to pay for. Plus with Firefox 3.0.3 and Pidgin bundled you get a wonderful internet and instant messenger clients that actually work. Pidgin works great for the clients that I use MSN and GTalk and is one of the better applications for instant messenging that I have used thus far. Firefox which I have had problems with in recent alphas, betas, and release candidates has improved so that I have only had 1 crash in the last 2 weeks. (That is way better then before when it was crashing once every 2 days.)<\/li>\n
  4. I love the add ons that you can get from synaptic package manager. They are great and you can find the ones that you want very easily. I always use Synaptic or sudo apt-get install to get the packages that I want to have.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I would always recomend Ubuntu to family, friends and people in general who ask about whether or not their PC is safe with all those viruses out there for the Windows platforms.<\/p>\n
