Today is Monday so I better start with the Banshee 1.4.1 Review.

Banshee has had a lot of crappy reviews in the past. This one is not a crappy review in the sense that it is bad. No this project has come a long way since I last tried it. The Banshee project should be very happy with their success as I have tried a great many Music and Video Player Programs but most are not as close to as good to this one.

Banshee has a great GUI (Graphical User Interface for those of you new to computers.) The interface is a very nice touch to the new Ubuntu interface where I am trying this out. Everything just, as it seems to me, to be in the right place. I would say this is the best music player other then VLC Media Player.

The music seems to just be better (I do not know if it is because I do not listen to music that much or it is that I have to find the right music to listen to.) Other then the music is better I really like Banshee over iTunes and Rhythym Box. My friend Tom Dyer recommended this program to start listening to podcasts in. Though he has necer tried it and said, “I only looked at the screenshots.” I believe he is not only right about the screen shots that he has seen but also that it is easy to use. (I don’t think he has used Banshee for a while but he is very right anyways.)

The video playback is one thing I have not tried as I do not watch DVDs or anything else on my computer other then work and testing out applications and Distros’.

Speaking of Distros that I am going to review, I have Debian and Mandriva lined up over the next few days.

Overall, the project has done a great job since I last used it. The interface, music playback has been done great. I appreciate how much effort has been put into working on this project and I hope it continues. I also hope this player will take the place in the Ubuntu Sound and Video Applications that Rhythym box has.

Ryan Orser.

Hi Everyone.
