Lots of people need an email client because they like to have their emails on their computer. So what they need is an email client that is nice looking, easy to use and works great. I would say that the one that I would suggest is Mozilla Thunderbird. You can get this from the Ubuntu Repositories by following this single command: sudo apt-get install thunderbird .<\/p>\n

Now that you have that installed you can start setting it up.<\/p>\n

  1. To start open Mozilla Thunderbird from Applications->Internet->Mozilla Thunderbird Mail\/News<\/li>\n
  2. Now that you have it open the first time dialog asks you to select what kind of thing you want it to do:\u00a0 News, Gmail, RSS, Email Account.<\/li>\n
  3. For this how to we are looking at the Gmail section. So you can click on Gmail.<\/li>\n
  4. Now you get to the next page. On this page you need to put in your name… most likely it is already done for you, but the one thing you may have to change is the email address as the application puts in your name before the @gmail.com. What you need to do is put in your email address without the @gmail.com.<\/li>\n
  5. Click Next.<\/li>\n
  6. The dialog that comes up is very easy to use you can either leave the box checked to download your email or you can uncheck the box to make it not download your email.<\/li>\n
  7. Click Finish.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    You are done! Start reading or downloading your email!<\/p>\n
