You need the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Ubnuntu 9.10 installed<\/li>\n<li>An internet connection<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>DO NOT INSTALL ON A PRODUCTION MACHINE! THIS IS NOT A STABLE RELEASE!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here are the steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the Run application by using ALT+F2.<\/li>\n<li>Type in: <strong>update-manager -d<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click Run<\/li>\n<li>The update manager opens up.<\/li>\n<li>Click new release Ubuntu 10.04 upgrade.<\/li>\n<li>type in your administrator password<\/li>\n<li>Click upgrade on the next window.<\/li>\n<li>Update Manager will download two packages for the upgrade<\/li>\n<li>There may be an dialog box saying that support has ended for the following applications and that they maybe removed after the installation. Click close.<\/li>\n<li>The Upgrade will start setting up the new software channels<\/li>\n<li>After reading the next dialog box you can choose to upgrade or to cancel.<\/li>\n<li>If you are going to upgrade click upgrade<\/li>\n<li>Now it will get the new packages and install them<\/li>\n<li>Next you can either replace files or not replace them.<\/li>\n<li>Then after the kernel installs the install will start to clean up.<\/li>\n<li>While cleaning up the Upgrade will ask if you want to remove some packages.<\/li>\n<li>After you can restart the computer<\/li>\n<li>You are now finished.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a step by step guide for upgrading to the new Alpha 1 of Ubuntu 10.04.
