Review of Wormux 0.8.2

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

Since I last talked about Wormux the developers have released a new version: 0.8.2.

In this version they have new graphics for characters and new graphics for most of the weapons. The characters look more cartoonish which may not be such a bad thing especially for the firefox team as before they looked like they were pretty close to what foxes maybe when standing on their hind leg and destroying the beasties. All I can say is that the characters look better now then they did before.

The game runs a lot smoother then before though there are a few problems like sometimes the game will freeze, the timer will still run, but you cannot move the characters around and trying to exit maybe difficult.

The game has a lot of great maps and the experimental maps are different to say the least. The maps hold different pros and cons but they are all great to play on.

Overall Wormux is a great game and  I would reccomend it to anyone.

2 Days Left Until Ubuntu 9.04

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Well with less then 2 days left until Ubuntu 9.04 comes out. I have already upgraded to save time and effort. Plus to beat the servers from going down all the time for the next couple of days with updates for the new Repositories is a lot of fun.

Today there are only 4 days left until Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) comes out.

Upgrading from Ubuntu 8.10 to Ubuntu 9.04 RC

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Last night I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.10 to the Ubuntu 9.04 Release Candidate in less then 2 hours. I had no troubles when I upgraded but when I  turned on my computer after the restart I have the resolution of 1024 x 768 (4:3) so a bit of my computer screen is not used. I hope this is fixed as  it looks really weird.

Jaunty looks great and runs really fast and I hope there is more to come for Ubuntu 9.04 and for the screen resolution problem that I have. There is also a bug report for the screen resolution for the intel GM965.

Great job Ubuntu Developers.

A Review: Inkscape

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

The version used in this review is: 0.46

I used the Inkscape Application to create a picture and then export it to a PNG file. Picture will be shown below:

PNG Image exported from Inkscape 0.46

The time before I created the picture shown above I had the application crashing every time I wanted to export an image.

Ever since then the crashing has stopped and the bug is still out there waiting to be either fixed or be called incomplete.

This application is useful and could be used for almost any graphic that you may want to make. Hats off to Inkscape Developers.
