I have been saying for a while when I started to try and use OpenOffice.org 3 that I could not open the application with out it crashing…. It works now! This is what you need to do to get your Open Office 3.0 working on your Ubuntu system.
- Go to System>Administration>Software Sources
- When it loads up you have to put in your sudo password. So just type in the password and hit enter.
- Go to Third Parties tab on the window that pops up after the password dialog.
- Click Add.
- Now copy and paste this line of text into that dialog box that pops up after you click add: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/openoffice-pkgs/ubuntu intrepid main
- Now click OK.
- Click Close. The computer will now reload your sources for you.
- You should get updates… For myself it was 63… just install them.
- After they are installed go to Applications>Office>OpenOffice.org Word Processor.
You are done!! Have fun with Open Office 3.0
